The Poznan University of Life Sciences (PULS) is a public authority organization. It takes a leading position in rankings of universities of life sciences in Poland. With over 12 000 students, 1500 employees, 8 faculties, 22 fields of study and over 30 specializations it offers a wide scope of education. The University provides education within a 3-level system: 1/ studies for the degree of Engineer or undergraduate (bachelor) studies, 2/ graduate studies ending with a Master's degree, and 3/ doctoral studies (PhD). The scientific potential of PULS is connected with staff of over 850 academic teachers-researchers, including 151 employees with the scientific title of professors. The Department of Grassland and Natural Landscape Sciences with Experimental Station in Brody is the autonomic unit of Faculty of Agriculture and Bioengineering of PULS. The Department’s staff consists of 9 researchers, 3 engineering specialists (2 of them are working in the Experimental Station in Brody) and 5 Ph.D. students. The project partner has internationally recognised expertise in above-ground biodiversity, grazing management, grassland cultivation and fertilization, herbage quality and usefulness of new cultivars in sustainable forage production system in Poland. The research group involved in the project has strong and specific competences on: i) biodiversity quantitative methods assessment; ii) evaluation of grazing effectiveness methods; iii) relationships between agricultural management, soil fertility and implications for above-ground biodiversity.
